Quiz scoring
Quiz mode scores the questions that have an answer key, then shows a score, a pass mark and any score bands.
Updated
A quiz is a form in one of three modes. The mode is set once for the whole form, in the builder settings, and it decides whether answers are scored at all.
Put the form in quiz mode
Open the builder settings and choose the mode. The three cards are the whole choice, and the choice applies to every question in the form.

| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Form | Collects details, requests or sign-ups. Nothing is scored. |
| Survey | Measures opinion and experience. Nothing is scored. |
| Quiz | Scores answers, with grading optional. |
The mode also changes what the AI writes, so a form built from the Quiz tab arrives with questions that can be marked right or wrong. Once the keys are set the marking is automatic, which is where the time goes back: no score sheet to fill in afterwards, and no arithmetic to get wrong.
Set answer keys and points
A question counts towards the score only when it has an answer key. Everything else is collected and left unscored.
- Open the question in the builder.
- Set the correct answer.
- Set Points for it.
- Repeat for every question that should count.
The panel keeps a running count of how many questions are graded and what they are worth together. Partial credit and penalties are set per question, so one question can award a point for each correct pick. The rest of the panel is covered in question settings.
Add a pass mark and score bands
- Require a pass mark fails everyone below a percentage. It arrives at 80, and you can change it.
- Outcomes by score is separate and optional. Each band has a range, a title and a description, and up to 20 bands let a quiz say what a score means rather than only what it is.
- The same settings hold the timer and the anti-cheat switches: detect leaving the page, no going back, and blocking copy and paste.
Choose what the respondent sees
One setting decides the result screen for the whole form. The choice is about how much of the answer key you are willing to publish.
| Result screen | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| Their score and which answers were right | The most detail. Best when the quiz is a learning exercise. |
| Their score and the right answers | Shows the key, not what they picked. |
| Only their score | Keeps the key private for a quiz that may be retaken, which is what stops a shared screenshot from being the answer sheet. |
| Nothing | The ordinary thank you screen, with the scores left in Results. |
Read the scores and the hard questions
The results page adds quiz analytics to the usual list: score distribution, how hard each question turned out, and the pass rate. That page is described in responses.
A question almost everyone fails is usually a question with an ambiguous key, and the difficulty list is how you find it.
